It comes from a wide variety of nectar and honeydew. Collected in the mountain of Valtos and the mountain of Arakynthos, which are rich in heather, chestnut, oak, linden tree, aromatic plants and herbs, in altitudes of 400 to 1100 meters, during May, June, July and August.
It is the richest honey in antioxidants and is characterized as a honey of exceptional nutritional value (it contains large amounts of potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, and sodium). It has a distinctive aroma, medium sweetness, and dark ruby in color.
Crystallizes slowly.
The organic honey of TAVROS is the product of one crop for each year .
It is specific and unique and that’s the reason for its limited production.

Research conducted by the Laboratory of Apiculture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki showed the highest antioxidant activity of oak, chestnut and heather honey. These kinds of honeys, which are the main components of the organic “Wild Forest” honey of TAVROS, presents comparatively higher biological value, even against(even more than) Manuka honey, which is based on the high antioxidant activity and the total phenols that they contain.
